Welp, this will be my last run until after surgery. Is there a Walkers of Mastodon, lol? 😆 I will be doing more walking and light elliptical use.

I've had multiple instances of collapsed vestibular episodes, and I'm done powering through this in the interest of not losing my hearing, or worse. I'm one stubborn son of a bitch, but I've been doing more damage to my body over the last 14 months than I should have been (under the guise of this being long covid and part of recovery). The plus side, though, is my body didn't decondition for 14 months while I figured out what was wrong with me. This was countered by delayed metabolic syndrome too, so I'm still a loser.

Now walking with a cane, limited stairs, and more playing with blood pressure medications until I get my inner ear surgically fixed. Also trying to get my adrenal system back in line. I need my mental energy to do this; doctors have been nearly worthless. I know what needs to be done; it's a matter of getting there.

See you all in a few months, hopefully when I can run again. I'm really hoping to still do the half marathon I signed up for in October.

You all are great; I appreciate seeing your awesome runs, PRs, and just getting out in nature. I will still follow the tag and cheer you on; if you don't feel like running, run for me at least, as I cannot!

Indoor track run. Debated running outside, but the wind started to pick up, and rain was in the forecast (plus random ice and ICE). I figured out the foot pod, so the Garmin is tracking my track runs inside now, somewhat accurately it seems.

Hoping to get back to 5 days of running in a week (probably not this one, lol), my health is not doing so great; cholesterol and BP are high, and asthma and chronic pain have been a bit of a struggle. I weigh more than I have ever weighed in my life too, so a diet started to complement the exercising. Life with #longcovid and middle age 🤷‍♂️

@gumnos@mastodon.bsd.cafe When I worked at Bestbuy, we were supposed to sell gold plated parallel port cables for printing, because of oxidation and corrosion. I never went along with it, because it wasn’t based on science, and the standard cables were relatively cheap (1/3 the cost of the gold plated).

@kzodasnowman@spore.social @swoonie@mastodon.ie Diet is on my to-do list and probably harder than resting for me. I love food and had a remarkable metabolism the first half of my life, so now it's time to make the hard dietary changes when I have conditioned myself to not care 😄 My blood sugar is higher (close to 200) typically, and my A1C is pre-diabetic. I'm well within range of a healthy weight, though (heh, they call that out in the video even).

@swoonie@mastodon.ie Thanks man. I'm working on getting checked out later today, and still have my appointment with primary in over a week. Indeed, I've heard that about the resting - and yes, it's a massive struggle for me (I'm a parent too). I was out of work for 2 1/2 months, and it kind of drove me crazy but I did it. I struggle a lot with slowing down since returning to work. I've re-introduced daily day time naps a few weeks ago, but I don't think that is going to be enough though. Hopefully a combination of medication (oof, so many meds) and some more rest can pull me upward a bit!

Blood pressure has been up (150 / 90s) the past several weeks (I take daily guanfacine too). I know I'm under a lot of justified stress (fascist regime and all). I haven't been protesting but am doing food, security, and other runs for immigrants in the cities. Likewise, I started taking the propranolol I had this morning, and it's already helping. I probably have POTS, but I haven't seen a cardiologist yet, nor did I go to the Mayo yet for #LongCovid. PCP is out a few weeks. Does anyone else have elevated BP constantly with #LongCovid? What helped? In addition to guanfacine, I do cardio 3-5 days a week (most likely have some degree of PEM, but I plow through it). Strangely, my pulse is low (RHR 40 bpm); I'm not sure if that is the cardio working there or something else. 14 months later, still dealing with #LongCovid. It really sucks 🙄
